Out with the Old, In with the New: STA Consignment Edition

I recently brought a number of items to Second Time Around Brookline, one of my favorite consignment stores in the Boston area. I thought I would do a little recap of the items I brought and the stories behind them. Hope you enjoy!

999981_10151591225619139_1672980328_nStella McCartney Falabella Shoulder Bag: I loved this bag, but never used it. As my bestie Brittany can attest, the strap always falls off your shoulder. I love the vegan leather and would absolutely buy another Stella McCartney bag, just in a different style - I love my mother's mustard crossbody version. I found this particular bag on Ebay during spring 2013, when I came to Connecticut to interview for my Nordstrom Internship. I remember my mother was helping me bid on the bag (she's typically an Ebay queen), but her finger slipped and I ended up paying $25 more than I wanted. Oh well, the bag and I had good times, such as this trip to NYC with Alice.

Vintage Chanel Bag: I know this particular parting will probably come as a shock to most of my fellow fashionistas, but I wasn't using this bag as well. Such a gorgeous bag needed a better owner. It's lambskin leather, so it's very delicate...as well as being an odd length. It's vintage and destined to be more of a cocktail style bag - too short to be a crossbody bag and a little long to be a shoulder bag. You can see the way I styled it here. I bought this bag after completing my Nordstrom Internship (Fall 2013). I remember I saved up all summer for a "special" purchase. I found it at Second Time Around: 176 Newbury Street.

Tory Burch Pencil Skirt: I can't remember when or where I purchased this perfect pencil skirt, but I did wear it to my Nordstrom Internship interview - I felt so professional!

J. Crew Beanstalk Stripe Skirt: I never took any pictures in this skirt. I bought this skirt from J. Crew during Fall Break in 2013. I was visiting my Mattie with my mother in Connecticut. Such a cute skirt. It's been featured on "The Mindy Project" and "Community".

Myne Ikat Skirt: Another skirt that I never took pictures... I bought this skirt on Ebay during college. I remember I found it and HAD to have it cause I saw it on Rachel Bilson, one of my style icons. I'm so much better about impulse shopping than I used to be. It was pretty short and I never felt totally comfortable in it. Also seen on Kate Hudson. Who do you think wore it better?

3.1 Phillip Lim Romper: Another item I purchased because Rachel Bilson had it, except this romper has a hilarious story. One Sunday, I saw that my favorite consignment store in Raleigh, NC (Revolver) had this chic romper, so I had to go try it on. Living in Greenville, NC at the time, it's about a 1.5 hour drive to Raleigh. I bribed my best friend Liz to come with me on the adventure. Poor thing, she felt awful from our party the night before, so I bribed her with Taco Bell to come with me. She's a cheap date, but I love her. Flash forward a couple months later and it became the most genius outfit idea ever. I worked a half day at Nordstrom one day, followed by a trip to NYC with Alice that afternoon/evening. I planned to wear it as a top with my red maxi for work and then as a romper for NYC fun, but it ended up being too cool to bare my legs. Still, I was pretty proud of my innovative styling.

Henri Bendel Camera Bag: I won this bag through a giveaway on Gal Meets Glam, one of the few items I've ever won in my life!

Coach Perforated Crossbody Bag: This was a 2013 Christmas present from my mom. Such a fun color, but a little large to be a crossbody, at least on someone my height...

Dooney & Bourke Mint Crossbody Bag (far left in photo above): I found this cute little bag at a consignment store in Greenville, NC. I remember I bought it because it reminded me of the Mulberry Spring 2014 collection.

J. Crew Rose Necklace: I purchased this necklace during Spring 2013. I remember this necklace was all the rage! It's funny how much your style can change in 2 years. Since getting engaged and married, my jewelry style is much more reserved and I lean towards dainty pieces.

Tory Burch Reva Flats: "What?! You're selling your Revas?" I know, these shoes were my everyday "go to" flats for such a long time. Since moving to Boston, I walk so much more than ever before and bought my Tory Burch Eddie flats last spring because of the reviews raving about their comfortability. The Eddie flats are my new favorites. It feels like you're walking on air...so time to part with my black Revas.

Banana Republic Necklace: I bought this necklace in high school. It was my first big statement piece. I won a TJ Maxx style contest with this necklace and a pink Calvin Klein dress I bought at TJ Maxx. I was tempted to keep it for sentimental reasons, but figured I have pictures to show these memories. Another statement necklace I'm parting with as my jewelry style moves in a different direction.

Not pictured: Theory Black Pleated Mini Skirt - I bought this skirt at Salvation Army for $2.00 in Greenville, NC. It was another skirt that was wicked short and I never wore very much...

Clearly, I seem to keep items for 2 years and then part with them. I think I typed "2013" a million times in this post. Maybe this post was more for me as I reminisce on the pieces I'm parting with, but I hope you enjoyed! Now for the fun part...the new stuff! These items were purchased from Second Time Around Brookline:
